Job title: Head of International Policy & Analytics
About the Role The Head of International Policy & Analytics will lead the analysis of key international public policy developments and develop policy solutions and strategies to support AbbVie's engagement with policymakers to advance the company's business goals. The role will ensure alignment across geographies, anticipate geopolitical and policy developments, and position AbbVie as a proactive partner to governments, trade associations and other external stakeholders.
What You'll Do
- Lead the International Policy & Analytics team in developing and executing an international policy strategy aligned with enterprise priorities.
- Identify emerging trends and translate them into actionable strategies for proactive and reactive engagement with international stakeholders.
- Represent International GA to senior executives across commercial, legal, regulatory, MHI, medical affairs, corporate affairs and market access, providing strategic counsel on complex public policy developments with recommendations on risks and opportunities.
- Develop monitoring and analytics processes to assess policy impact, inform mitigation strategies and generate evidence to support AbbVie's positions.
- Develop policy documents, resources and materials to support advocacy; create and lead cross-functional strategic working groups to assess proposals and develop integrated positions.
- Represent AbbVie in above-brand forums to shape enterprise policy positions and build capability across the organization on public policy.
- Lead the International Policy Council to ensure alignment across the International Therapeutics BU on key policy issues.
- Oversee international trade association strategy, acting as internal lead for IFPMA and ensuring enterprise alignment across geographies and associations.
- Support the VP, International Government Affairs and ELT in developing AbbVie’s BCR strategy, identifying opportunities for strategic engagement and delivering briefings for BCR/IFPMA engagements.
- Build and manage a high-performing international policy team; foster collaboration, agility and impact.
- Represent AbbVie in external engagements with government officials, trade associations, multilateral organizations and other stakeholders.
What We're Looking For
- 15+ years of experience in government affairs and/or policy, economics or international relations.
- Significant public policy experience with strong knowledge of international policy and regulations affecting the pharmaceutical industry and an understanding of the policy-making process.
- Proven leadership capabilities and ability to drive policy analysis across functions and build consensus with key business partners.
- Excellent analytical, critical thinking and interpersonal skills with the ability to translate complex concepts clearly in writing and speech.
- Strong strategic thinking, creativity, sound judgement and adaptable, fast-changing environment tolerance.
- Well-honed political sensitivities and executive presence to interact with high-profile stakeholders, including government officials, trade association leaders and multilateral organizations.
- Preferable: experience in international settings at national, regional or global levels; knowledge of international healthcare systems, policymaking and geopolitical dynamics.
- Bachelor's degree in economics, political science or public policy (or related field) required.
