Job title: Head of Intellectual Property

About the Role You will join the OneTeam and report to the Directrice Juridique Groupe and head of the Propriété Intellectuelle (PI) department. The PI team protects the group’s immaterial assets (patents, trademarks, copyrights, trade secrets), supports R&D, product and innovation strategies, manages open source licenses, ensures regulatory PI compliance, and aims to value and safeguard innovations to maintain competitiveness and technological leadership.

What You'll Do

• Define and implement a global IP strategy aligned with business and technology objectives.
• Identify priority technology domains and markets for IP protection; set KPIs; monitor effectiveness.
• Ensure alignment between PI objectives and innovation/value creation (strong patents, strategic filings, licensing).
• Lead and develop the PI team, foster the one team spirit, drive performance and transformation, build cohesion around the department's projects.
• Manage the IP portfolio: oversee filings, monitoring, renewals and defense; arbitrate filing/abandonment/defense decisions; manage budget and territorial strategy (France, Europe, international).
• Monitor oppositions, examination procedures and litigation before offices (INPI, EUIPO, EPO, etc.).
• Open Source & software governance: implement OSS governance in software development; advise on licenses and associated risks; define rules for usage/contribution/distribution; respond to non-compliance or potential disputes; contribute to Software Asset Management policy.
• Support internal teams (R&D, product, business): identify protectable inventions; perform Freedom to Operate analyses; provide legal support for licenses, consortium contracts, technology transfers; educate colleagues on PI; support the group’s innovation pipeline including employee inventions.
• Support communications and marketing: negotiate and draft contracts in communications/advertising; contribute to marketing/communications strategy and manage employee-created assets.
• Litigations and defense of assets: manage disputes and settlements; protect trade secrets; organize defense strategy beyond court; prepare technical dossiers.

What We're Looking For

• Higher education in IP law (Master 2 minimum) with a minimum of 10 years’ PI experience, including substantial people management.
• Experience in a technologically complex environment (ideally cloud, telecom or software).
• Deep knowledge of open source issues and software protection.
• Mastery of PI, licensing and open source rules in France and in countries where the company operates (Canada, UK, India, Germany, USA, etc.).
• Nice to Have: dual legal/technical background (engineering or scientific degree).
• European patent attorney (EPI) or CPI qualification is a plus.
