Job title: Head of Global CSO (Clinical Supply Operations)

About the Role The role leads all Clinical Supply Operations (CSO) activities for oncology and specialty medicines globally, from early development to launch and lifecycle management, and oversees the Global-CSO function within DSI/DST/DSE. It acts as the strategic CSO lead for global development projects, coordinating with R&D, Oncology, Quality & Safety, Regulatory, and Supply Chain, and partners with AZ & MSD collaborations. The regional head of DSI US CSO requires close collaboration with TECH Unit sub-functions to maximize overall TECH Unit performance and deliver Daiichi Sankyo’s 2030 Vision.

What You'll Do

  • Define and prioritize goals, activities, and timelines to deliver CTM and comparator supply objectives.
  • Lead the strategy for Global CSO; align with global vision, drive collaboration and capability development across the organization.
  • Ensure stable operation of Clinical Trial Materials (CTM) and comparator management; minimize obsolescence; manage external vendors (IRT, labeling, distribution, storage, transfer, and destruction).
  • Interface with internal partners (Clinical Operations, Clinical Development, Quality, Regulatory, External Vendors) to ensure CTM availability as required.
  • Collaborate with Project Lead (CMC) to adapt manufacturing plans and address changes impacting CTM supply.
  • Develop and manage Global CSO strategies for all DS projects; accelerate product launches as Head of Global CSO.
  • Manage CSO functions across DSI, DST, and DSE; oversee packaging/labeling, inventory, and logistics for global projects from early to late development.
  • Participate in SCM decision-making as part of the SCM-Committee; set annual objectives and budgets; support financial planning for clinical trials.
  • Select, develop, and motivate CSO staff; drive organizational change to align with the 2030 Vision; ensure high performance and compliance.
  • Build strong partnerships with executives and cross-functional leaders (Project Lead, GTL in R&D, DS executives) to maximize portfolio value; represent CSO in Technology Unit Steering Committee, GPAD, and other decision-making bodies across Daiichi Sankyo.
  • Align CSO activities with the Head of SCM Unit and the TECH Unit to maximize total TECH Unit performance, and oversee the US regional CSO program as applicable.

What We're Looking For

  • Education: Bachelor’s in a scientific/technical discipline; Master’s in Chemistry, Life Sciences, Engineering, Pharmaceutical or related field preferred; PhD preferred.
  • Experience: 15+ years in biotech/pharma (Clinical Supply Operations); 12+ years specifically in Clinical Supply Operations; demonstrated senior leadership and global cross-functional collaboration.
  • Proven track record in global CSO management, CTM supply, comparator management, and vendor management (IRT, labeling, distribution, storage, transfer, destruction).
  • Strong budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning experience for clinical trials; ability to manage large programs and drive efficiency.
  • Excellent stakeholder management with executives across US, Japan, and EU; capability to guide diverse teams and organize complex relationships.
  • Preferred: experience collaborating with strategic partners (e.g., AstraZeneca, MSD) and driving alignment with corporate 2030 Vision.

Nice to Have

  • Experience interfacing with regulatory/CMC processes and cross-functional TECH Unit initiatives.
  • Prior exposure to technology platforms like Interactive Response Technology (IRT) and global comparator strategies.
