About the Role The Head of Finance (HOF) will be a strategic and operational leader providing counsel to the Principal and the Board of Governors. The HOF will ensure the efficient stewardship of the School’s physical and financial resources, oversee support services, and manage risk for the School, while serving on the Core Leadership Team. The role also acts as the primary liaison to the Board’s Finance & Procurement Committees. What You'll Do
- Oversee Banking and Treasury functions and manage the school’s bank relationships, ensuring compliance with banking requirements and minimizing charges across accounts.
- Lead profitable investment of excess funds and prepare loan proposals when required.
- Provide advisory and reporting support to the Board’s Finance & Procurement Committees; prepare periodic management reports and present financial status to the Principal and board.
- Prepare annual final accounts for external auditors; monitor creditors, receivables and assets; implement board directives on financial matters.
- Lead budgeting activities: prepare the school’s annual budget and financial statements, monitor budget performance, and escalate variances.
- Manage financial operations including working capital, cash flow monitoring, cost-control, value-for-money in procurement, and asset maintenance; ensure realistic loan repayment strategies when needed.
- Oversee accounting functions: general ledger, journals, billing, and asset accounting; maintain a proper asset register.
- Ensure compliance with Financial Manual, Administration and Procurement Operating Manual; provide staff training for compliance.
- Maintain external relations with bankers, auditors, and tax authorities; ensure timely statutory deductions and payments.
- Provide leadership to the finance team and support the COO’s office in Administration, Procurement, Facilities and Maintenance, and Business Development; collaborate with the Principal and CLT to advance strategic objectives.
- Actively contribute to school growth initiatives nationally and internationally; participate in the annual marketing plan with the CGO, Marketing & Communications, and Admissions teams. What We're Looking For
- MBA or master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related discipline.
- Recognised professional accounting certification (ICAN, ACCA, CPA, etc.).
- 10–15 years of progressive experience in financial leadership roles, preferably with exposure to educational institutions or non-profit organisations.
- Previous experience managing multi-department operations.
