Role Description:
- The Head of Engineering is a full-time, on-site role based in Lagos, responsible for overseeing all technical and engineering operations for the station. This role manages the broadcast infrastructure, including studio equipment, transmission systems, IT networks, and audio processing tools, ensuring optimal uptime and sound quality.
- The Head of Engineering leads and mentors the engineering team, assigns tasks, and coordinates resources to support live shows, recordings, remote broadcasts, and special events.
- Day-to-day responsibilities include planning and executing technical projects, managing maintenance schedules, troubleshooting issues, and implementing upgrades in line with industry standards.
- The role also involves collaborating closely with programming, production, and management teams to align engineering priorities with business and content goals, while ensuring compliance with relevant regulatory and safety requirements.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Broadcast Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Experience in radio or media industry engineering roles is highly beneficial.
- Strong team management and team leadership skills, with experience guiding and developing technical staff.
- Proven engineering management experience, overseeing broadcast or media technology environments.
- Demonstrated project management skills for planning, executing, and monitoring engineering and infrastructure initiatives.
- Hands-on software development or scripting experience relevant to broadcast automation, monitoring, or systems integration.
- Extensive knowledge of radio broadcast systems, studio equipment, transmission chains, audio routing, and IT/network infrastructure.
- Ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues quickly in a live broadcast environment.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally with programming, production, and management.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to system reliability, security, and continuous improvement.
