Job title: Head of EHS Plant Saalfelden

About the Role The Head of EHS at SIG's Saalfelden plant leads the local Environmental, Health and Safety function, ensuring alignment with global EHS policies and standards while safeguarding people, processes and the environment.

What You'll Do

  • Coordinate and provide functional guidance to the local EHS team; act as primary interface to Global/Regional EHS; deploy global initiatives and standards.
  • Implement and maintain Health & Safety management: hazard identification, risk assessments, training events, information sessions, instruction courses, and preventive measures tailored to the plant and service activities.
  • Consolidate and review plant EHS reporting (incidents, near misses, KPIs, audits, compliance status, BBS programs, and projects); ensure consistent incident reporting and management; drive root cause analyses and corrective actions.
  • Coordinate regulatory compliance activities: permits, inspections, and legal requirements for plant and service organization.
  • Roll out and monitor global EHS programs, campaigns, standards; facilitate best practice sharing and capability building among plant departments and, where relevant, service teams.
  • Identify local EHS risks, trends, and systemic issues (including service-related risks such as customer-site work, travel, and contractor management); proactively escalate.
  • Support emergency preparedness, crisis management, and safety drills; coordinate response for serious incidents involving plants or field engineers.
  • Support EHS projects (local new machinery / local machinery modification) to cover legal and corporate requirements during design/engineering/construction (including pre-startup safety review, PSSR).
  • Provide expert consulting to management on plant topics: safety, ISO 14001/45001, Fire Protection, SEDEX, GHG emissions, pollution-, waste-, water- and biodiversity-management.

What We're Looking For

  • University degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, Chemical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Master craftsman or a related discipline; legal local required safety specialist exam.
  • Formal qualification in occupational health and safety (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH, Lead Auditor OHS or Environment or equivalent) is a strong advantage.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead EHS programs, ensure regulatory compliance, conduct risk assessments, incidents investigations, root cause analysis, and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Strong communication and capability-building skills; ability to partner with global/regional EHS functions and service teams.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with SEDEX, GHG emissions, pollution-, waste-, water- and biodiversity-management.
  • Knowledge of pre-startup safety reviews (PSSR) and EHS project work with local machinery.
