About the Role We are seeking experienced professionals to lead one of IDB Group's Country Offices in Latin America and the Caribbean. The role represents the Bank, shapes country strategy, coordinates programming, and aligns operations with national priorities to drive development impact.

What You'll Do

  • Represent the IDB Group and act as the main link between the IDB Group and government, private sector, civil society, international cooperation, and other relevant actors, proactively seeking opportunities to contribute to the country’s development.
  • Lead the programmatic dialogue and the development of the Country Strategy and programming, ensuring alignment with the Institutional Strategy and IDB Group objectives, and compliance with strategic selectivity and development impact.
  • Lead IDB Invest and IDB Lab on possible business opportunities that promote their objectives, in accordance with their business plans and corporate mandates.
  • Ensure the alignment of public and private operations with the country’s priorities.
  • Plan and align the Country Office’s human and financial resources to implement the IDB Group program, in accordance with the Bank’s policies and processes.
  • Lead, manage, advise, and evaluate Country Office staff, on a matrix basis where appropriate, to optimize the Group’s response to clients and partners.
  • Ensure that work practices and conduct at the Country Office comply with IDB Group policies related to ethics and respect in the workplace.
  • Develop a communication strategy for the country office that promotes the dissemination of knowledge, information, and intelligence among all relevant actors, internal and external.

What We're Looking For

  • Deep knowledge of the IDB Group, its policies and operational frameworks, and ability to apply them to client needs while identifying and managing risks.
  • Strategic planning skills with the ability to translate the institutional strategy into country-level strategy and programming.
  • Ability to identify and promote public-private synergies to achieve the IDB Group’s objectives.
  • Proven program and project management experience across development programs and projects financed by the IDB Group, ensuring impact.
  • Understanding of private sector financing/co-financing, risk implications, and alignment with IDB Group interests.
  • Excellent relationship management and networking skills with government, private sector, partners, and civil society; ability to coordinate and align with country development objectives.
  • Resource mobilization experience to attract private sector and development partner financing for IDB Group projects.
  • Strong knowledge to formulate and implement the country strategy using the country’s economic, political, and regulatory context.
  • Experience leading policy dialogue, coordinating IDB Group programming with in-country counterparts, and monitoring project implementation.
  • Knowledge of the IDB Group’s policies, risk management, and integrity expectations; ability to ensure security of staff and assets.
  • Reporting and accountability: keeping senior management informed about progress, finances, and compliance.
  • Team leadership: experience leading diverse teams, promoting hybrid work models and a collaborative environment.
  • Resource planning and management: ability to plan and manage financial and human resources for current and future needs.
  • Political and interpersonal skills: understanding governmental and international structures and adapting to stakeholder interests; careful communication.
  • Promote workplace culture and values: fostering inclusion and a respectful, equitable work environment.
