Old Thorns Hotel & Resort have an exciting opportunity for a Head Greenkeeper to lead our Greenkeeping Team.

Main Responsibilities

• Lead, manage and develop the Greenkeeping Team, ensuring high standards of performance and teamwork.
• Oversee the daily maintenance and presentation of the golf course, including greens, tees, fairways and bunkers.
• Maintain seasonal maintenance programmes to optimise course conditions.
• Manage turf health, irrigation, drainage and effective pest and disease control.
• Manage departmental budgets, resources and purchasing to ensure efficient operations.
• Ensure compliance with Health & Safety, Environmental and Sustainability standards.
• Work closely with the Golf Team and the wider resort team to deliver an outstanding golf experience for our members and guests.
• Undertake any other reasonable duties as requested by senior management, in line with the responsibilities of the role.

Qualifications

• Valid Right to Work in the UK - Sponsorship is not available for this position

• Proven experience in greenkeeping, with previous supervisory or management experience.

• Strong knowledge of turf management, horticulture and golf course management.

• Excellent leadership, communication and organisational skills.

• Experience managing machinery, budgets and maintenance schedules.

• A proactive approach, with a passion for maintaining exceptional course standards.

• Be qualified in NVQ 2/3 Sports Turf, PA 1, 2 and 6 spraying and hold a Chainsaw Licence.
