About the Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, designing, implementing, and managing the overall risk management process for the bank by developing risk management frameworks, policies, procedures, and reporting standards that align with the bank’s business objectives and risk appetite.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage the bank’s risk management framework, policies, processes, procedures, and reporting standards.
  • Monitor business developments for emerging risks and recommend improvements to risk management processes.
  • Facilitate the identification, assessment, measurement, monitoring, control, and reporting of risks.
  • Maintain oversight of the bank’s enterprise risk management activities.
  • Provide risk management support, education, and training to staff.
  • Ensure proper documentation of credits in line with approved standards and procedures.
  • Define credit approval frameworks and recommend approval limits in line with bank policies.
  • Analyze and appraise individual credit requests in accordance with approved policies and procedures.
  • Conduct periodic stress testing and scenario analysis on the bank’s credit portfolio and recommend appropriate actions.
  • Support loan remediation activities, including negotiations and recovery strategies for delinquent customers.
  • Review and analyze delinquent portfolios, identify root causes, and track corrective actions.
  • Monitor violations of credit policies and provide recommendations to senior management.
  • Prepare timely, comprehensive, and reliable credit risk reports for senior management and the board.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Requirements

  • HND/B.Sc. in Accounting, Economics, or a related field.

  • Master’s degree in Risk Management, Finance, Accounting, or a related field is an added advantage.

  • Minimum of 15 years’ experience, including at least 5 years in a similar role within a financial institution.

  • Must have mortgage banking experience.
