About the Role ALS Environmental Risk Services is seeking practical, hands-on tradespeople or construction professionals to transition from on-site work into a specialist field role as a HAZMAT consultant. This is not an office job—you'll be on active construction sites conducting inspections, sampling, and testing for asbestos and other hazardous materials, with full training provided.
What You'll Do
- Carry out on-site inspections and sampling for asbestos, mould, meth residue, lead paint, and other hazardous materials
- Perform air monitoring and clearance inspections following asbestos removal works
- Accurately complete Chain of Custody documentation for laboratory analysis
- Prepare and handle samples and work closely with laboratory teams
- Work alongside Senior Field Consultants, progressing daily inspection and testing schedules
- Record site findings and assist with reporting using our digital platform
- Support Environmental and OH teams as required
- Produce clear, concise reports for clients with mentoring and peer review
- Travel across Queensland and interstate, including occasional night shifts and weekends
What We're Looking For
- Trade, construction, asbestos removal, or building industry experience (highly regarded)
- A desire to move off the tools into a technical inspection and consulting role
- Advanced Microsoft Office 365 and general Windows PC skills
- Extremely high level of attention to detail
- Willingness to obtain Licensed Asbestos Assessor accreditation (full training provided)
- Open driver’s licence
- Construction White Card
- Queensland Blue Card or willingness to obtain
- Confidence working on active construction and remediation sites
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safe work practices
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Clear written and verbal communication skills
- Right to work in Australia

- Experience with digital platform or similar reporting tools
