Johnson Controls seeks a Hardware Platform Architect to lead the planning and development of new hardware platforms for high-power HVAC inverter systems (VSD/SPM/IPM/IM). The role involves defining technology roadmaps, performance targets (power, efficiency, and power density), and collaborating across HVAC product, main controller design, and electrical system design teams to deliver optimal electrical control system solutions while adhering to company ethics and quality requirements. What You'll Do
-
Plan and develop new hardware platforms for VSD SPM/IPM/IM inverters for HVAC applications.
-
Define technology roadmap, pre-research pipelines, and actively推动落地 (drive implementation) of selected approaches.
-
Research and monitor latest power electronics technologies and devices; provide periodic research reports; track industry trends and inverter topologies and control algorithms.
-
Collaborate with HVAC product teams, main controller design teams, and electrical system design teams to deliver optimal electrical control system solutions.
-
Continuously summarize and optimize design standards; comply with company ethics, policies, and quality requirements.
-
Support prototype testing and resolve technical issues encountered during testing. What We're Looking For
-
Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electronics/Electrical Engineering, Power Electronics, Mechatronics/Automation or related fields.
-
5+ years of hardware development experience for inverters/drives.
-
Strong understanding of inverter theory; awareness of industry tech trends; experience with competitor research preferred.
-
Familiarity with power devices (IGBT, SiC) parameters; skilled in selection calculations and design verification.
-
Proficient with Saber, MBd or Simulink; familiar with measurement instruments and test equipment.
-
Knowledge of SPM/IPM/IM principles and control algorithms; basic thermal and mechanical design knowledge.
