About this role

About the company

Our client is a defense technology company.

The role

Raydar is recruiting for this role on behalf of our client. Own the integration, assembly and calibration of an imaging sensor package as a complete working system, from the first bench prototype through repeatable production units. You will drive quick hardware iteration cycles, partner with algorithm and opto-mechanical colleagues, and take charge of testing, qualification and supplier readiness.

What you'll do

  • Integrate cameras, optics, compute, inertial sensors and power electronics into a compact sensor assembly, including packaging, harnessing and assembly.

  • Build, bring up and calibrate units so that each one performs consistently.

  • Run repeated cycles of build, field test, data analysis and redesign across several systems in development at the same time.

  • Work with algorithm and opto-mechanical engineers to tune and refine the design based on test data.

  • Own test procedures, environmental qualification and supply chain for the assembly.

  • Automate repetitive tasks using Python and AI tools.

  • Requirements

  • What we're looking for

  • A university degree in engineering, physics or a closely related discipline.

  • Around 8 or more years of hands-on hardware engineering experience.

  • A track record of quickly turning ideas into working electronics prototypes, using bench builds, fast fabrication and homemade test fixtures.

  • Strong CAD and GD&T skills for fitting dense assemblies into tight spaces.

  • Experience taking a complete imaging product from integration through to deployment in the field.

  • Comfort working in a fast build-and-test cycle at an early stage of a product.

  • Daily use of modern AI tools in your workflow.

  • Ability to work fully on-site, with regular weekend travel to a test site and suppliers.

  • Bonus points

  • Background in defense sensing hardware, including cooling, ruggedization and calibration.

  • Experience designing, building, calibrating or analyzing sensor systems.

  • Familiarity with qualifying hardware for harsh flight or airborne conditions.

  • Benefits

  • Compensation and benefits

  • Base salary: USD 180,000 to 220,000 per year

  • Equity

  • Relocation support

  • Location and work model

  • Los Angeles, California, United States
