On-site

About this role

About the Role Teradyne is seeking a hands-on hardware engineer to support test and measurement product lines at the contract manufacturing site in Penang. This role focuses on pre- and post-ramp sustaining activities in factory and field, troubleshooting hardware to module and component levels, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to improve test methods, yields, and manufacturing efficiency. What You'll Do

  • Troubleshoot hardware and root cause analog, digital, high-speed optical, and RF issues to module and component level.
  • Set up and perform RF and photonics measurements (P1dB, phase noise, gain, spurious emissions, S-parameters, BER, eye diagrams, jitter, optical power, wavelength, extinction ratio) and related photonics metrics.
  • Use data analysis to optimize test methods, limits, and drive improvements in board and system designs.
  • Improve HW yield and reliability; contribute to continuous improvement processes and procedures.
  • Ensure products meet manufacturability, quality, functional specifications, and cost requirements; maintain assembly docs and test procedures.
  • Manage hardware deviations, change requests, and ECOs during manufacturing stages.
  • Optimize test parameters, test times, touch times, and test station designs to drive down costs.
  • Coordinate technical communication between LitePoint teams and Contract Manufacturing; resolve conflicts and provide technical solutions.
  • Implement debug plans and train test engineers/technicians to reduce debug and re-test time.
  • Work with third-party vendors on component qualification and characterization.
  • Familiarity with PCBA schematics, PCB layout, fabrication drawings, and BOMs.
  • Maintain knowledge of RF lab equipment (network analyzers, spectrum analyzers, phase noise analyzers, etc.) What We're Looking For
  • BA/BS required; MSEE preferred. 8-10 years in hardware engineering, product engineering, or failure analysis for RF and Optical systems and board-level products.
  • Deep expertise in Photonics & High-Speed I/O test and measurement solutions.
  • Knowledge of high-speed photonics and electronic test solutions, including PXIe optical modules, tunable lasers, BERTs, optical-to-electrical converters, and related platforms.
  • Deep understanding of RF/Optical products; RF/Optical design knowledge essential. Prior RF/optical board design experience is a plus.
  • Prior experience with design and manufacturing Wi-Fi/Cellular testers, Optical, BERT, DSO, and TDR systems; mm-wave experience a plus.
  • Knowledge of PXI test solutions is a plus.
  • Strong troubleshooting, failure analysis, problem-solving, and collaboration; excellent communication and organizational skills; meticulous attention to detail.
  • Local candidates only; visa sponsorship not available. Nice to Have
  • Experience with mm-wave products; familiarity with PXI/PXIe test solutions. Compensation & Benefits
