About the Role Silvus Technologies is seeking a Hardware Component Engineer - Electrical to join an engineering team focused on selecting, qualifying, and lifecycle-managing components for product development and sustainment. The role requires strong Electrical Engineering foundations and working knowledge of mechanical components, and reports to the Director of Hardware Engineering Operations. The position is 100% onsite in West Los Angeles, CA. What You'll Do
- Select, qualify, and release electronic and electromechanical components, including connectors, cables, and related hardware.
- Review and approve component specifications, datasheets, and drawings for NPI.
- Partner with design, mechanical, and manufacturing teams for proper component integration and compatibility.
- Evaluate alternate/second-source components to mitigate supply chain risks.
- Monitor component lifecycle (PCN/EOL/obsolescence) and drive proactive mitigation plans.
- Support failure analysis, root cause investigation, and corrective actions for component-related issues.
- Ensure components meet regulatory, environmental, and reliability requirements (e.g., RoHS, REACH).
- Maintain and improve component databases, part numbering, and documentation standards.
- Work with suppliers, manufacturing and quality teams to resolve technical and quality concerns.
- Perform other related duties. What We're Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
- 3-5 years of experience in component engineering, hardware development, or a related role.
- Strong understanding of electronic components (FPGA, Processor, FEM, RF) and working knowledge of mechanical components such as connectors, harnesses, and enclosures.
- Experience interpreting datasheets, mechanical drawings, and industry standards.
- Familiarity with PLM systems, engineering processes (e.g. DFMEA, PPAP) and component databases.
- Knowledge of component lifecycle management and supply chain considerations.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Must be a U.S. Person due to clients under U.S. federal contracts.

- Extensive experience with digital electronics system and RF system design.
- Extensive experience with wireless communication systems design and productization.
- Experience with high-speed connectors, RF connectors, or MIL-grade components.
- Familiarity with environmental and reliability standards (e.g., IPC, JEDEC).
- Experience supporting NPI and manufacturing environments.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
- Effective communication across cross-functional teams.
- Proactive in identifying risks and driving solutions. Compensation & Benefits
- Salary: $95,000 - $125,000 per year.
- Pay transparency note: Pay within this range varies and depends on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The actual offer will be based on the individual candidate.
