About this role
The Hair Stylist keeps the Mercy Ships crew looking sharp by providing them with quality hair care. Because even volunteers want to look and feel their best.
What you will contribute
- Consult with clients to understand their hair care needs, preferences, and desired styles.
- Provide a range of hair care services including cutting, coloring, styling, and treatments.
- Offer expert advice on hair care maintenance and styling techniques.
- Maintain a clean and organized workstation and salon.
- Maintain inventory of products used and update procurement list as appropriate.
- Assist in the procurement of supplies and be available to speak to sales representatives.
- Post and keep the appointment lists current.
- Attend and participate in departmental devotions and all meetings called for the community.
- Working hours: 1-2 days per week 1PM-9PM, 3-4 days per week 8AM-5PM
For This Role, You Will Need
- Completion of hair school/cosmetology school or program.
- Valid professional license and/or certification required.
- Minimum of two years’ experience working in a salon, post licensure/certification.
- Experience with cutting, coloring, styling techniques, perms, and waxing.
- Experience and ability to work with all types and textures of hair.

- Able to live in and contribute to community life, requiring stable and healthy interpersonal skills.
- Physical ability and stamina to be on feet all day.

- Understanding of sanitation and safety standards in a salon setting.
