Description: ZEISS in Jena is seeking a Gruppenleiter Softwareentwicklung (m/w/x) to lead and develop a software development group, aligning resources and processes with the company's technology roadmaps, and steering complex development projects from bid phase to serial production. The role combines people leadership, project management, and strategic technology development, with external representation and close collaboration with production.
What You'll Do
- Provide disciplinary and technical leadership of a development group, including staff development, succession planning, and qualification management.
- Lead or technically guide complex development and technology projects, coordinating interdisciplinary teams and ensuring schedules, costs, and quality.
- Shape strategic technology and domain development by aligning resources, processes, and projects with strategy and roadmaps; further develop development and project management processes; acquire and implement development orders; recruit and manage internal/external development assignments; oversee projects from proposal phase to serial transfer.
- Build and maintain internal and external networks; represent the area and technology at professional events.
- Ensure compliance with legal and internal guidelines; partner with production and support technology questions.
What We're Looking For
- Excellent degree in a natural sciences field with focus on computer science or mathematics or equivalent.
- Relevant professional experience in software development with C/C++, C#, .Net as software developer and software architect in complex industrial projects.
- Practical experience in database development (SQL) and knowledge of efficient algorithms and data structures with strong focus on simulation, machine vision and machine learning.
- Knowledge of computer architecture for efficient parallelization and performance optimization.
- First leadership experience in software development.
- Knowledge and experience with agile development methods and management approaches.
- Goal-oriented, results- and problem-solving approach with strong customer focus.
- Very good German and English skills in speaking and writing.
