We’re a thriving, values‑driven business powered by diverse thinkers, bold doers, and people who bring their whole selves to work. If you’re ready to make your mark, you’re in the right place.
At DM, our values guide everything we do: Be Yourself, Act Courageously, Show You Care. They’re not just words - they’re how we turn passion into progress.
WHERE YOU SIT
As our Group Tax Manager, you’ll be part of the Finance team working closely with brilliant people across the business and reporting into Head of Tax. You’ll be right at the heart of fast‑moving projects that shape how we show up for our consumers - today and tomorrow.
WHERE YOU CONTRIBUTE
Dr. Martens is a globally recognisable and culturally influential British brand, with over 60 years of rich heritage. As brand custodians, we are lucky to work for a dynamic, thriving and ethical business, with people from diverse backgrounds, who bring their true selves to work and where anyone can grow their career.
The Group tax team consists of 6 people with oversight over all global taxes. They are assisted by certain individuals within the markets who have responsibility for local compliance. Although the Group has only had an internal tax function for 2.5 years the team has an excellent track record in reducing exposure to tax risk and driving forward the tax strategy.
The Group is looking to hire a Group Tax Manager to work within Head Office/Camden. This role is responsible for the hands-on management of the Group's direct tax across the UK and internationally, with lots of projects to be involved in and is supported by a Tax Analyst
CORE ACCOUNTABILITIES
As our Group Tax Manager, you will be responsible for:
- Managing the preparation, review and filing of UK corporation tax returns, overseeing overseas market tax compliance and ensuring adherence to Pillar 2 and emerging tax requirements.
- Implementing the Group’s transfer pricing policy, maintaining appropriate group and local country documentation, and managing the tax control framework to identify risks and improvement opportunities.
- Leading tax activities during the year-end close, including audit management, group tax consolidation and preparation of tax disclosures.
- Providing technical tax advice and guidance on key transactions, business expansion decisions and tax queries, while managing audits and enquiries from HMRC and other tax authorities.
- Leading and developing the Tax Analyst and delivering ad hoc tax projects, sharing technical expertise and supporting tax-related decision-making across the business.
KEY SKILLS & CAPABILITIES
Put simply, the key things we’re looking for are:
- Qualified tax accountant with experience in a multinational tax function or a Big Four accounting firm, including tax accounting requirements for a listed business.
- Strong technical knowledge and hands-on experience advising on international tax matters for multinational organisations.
- High level of computer literacy, with strong Excel skills and the ability to analyse and challenge detailed financial and tax information.
- Experience working with third-party professional advisers across multiple countries, building effective stakeholder relationships and demonstrating strong commercial awareness.
- Strong project management skills, with a proactive, hands-on approach and willingness to investigate complex issues and challenge the detail.
