About this role

About the Role As the Groundskeeper Supervisor, you will plan and execute skilled work to maintain campus grounds, landscape construction, athletic field preparation, and snow removal operations. You will be an active member of the Facilities Management team, working closely with the Director to ensure the campus layout is safe for the campus community during each season. You will thrive when combining your landscaping background with equipment and vehicle maintenance knowledge while skillfully operating single-chassis trucks or large-scale vehicles. What You'll Do

  • Supervise four equipment operators, seven groundskeepers, and five to ten student summer workers; assign work, review leave requests, and perform annual reviews.
  • Operate single-chassis trucks with a gross vehicle weight between 17,000 and 32,000 pounds to transport materials, supplies, and equipment to and from campus maintenance and construction sites.
  • Perform and direct staff regarding snow removal and ice control operations, including plowing, salting, cindering, and related winter weather response duties.
  • Pull work orders, schedule assignments, and close work orders accordingly.
  • Maintain a pesticide license and apply pesticides as needed.
  • Perform manual labor and grounds maintenance activities when not operating equipment.
  • Plan, plant, maintain, and care for flowers, shrubs, grass seed, sod, and other landscape materials.
  • Prepare and maintain athletic and recreational fields by lining fields, mowing, fertilizing, spraying, and other turf maintenance duties.
  • Conduct routine preventive maintenance and minor repairs on assigned equipment and vehicles, including cleaning, servicing, and maintaining operational records. What We're Looking For
  • Valid driver's license without restrictions.
  • Six months of experience operating and maintaining single-chassis trucks (17,000-32,000 lbs) and/or construction/maintenance equipment; or equivalent combination of experience and training.
  • Ability to safely operate heavy equipment and ground maintenance machinery in various weather and terrain conditions.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding work (lifting, carrying, pushing/pulling, bending, standing, walking).
  • Ability to read, understand, and follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team; maintain effective working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and the public.
  • Ability to assign snow removal and emergency response duties as needed.
  • Basic knowledge of preventive maintenance and minor repairs for equipment and vehicles.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying seasonal and environmental conditions, including exposure to noise, dust, fumes, and inclement weather.
  • Maintain a pesticide license.
  • Able to read, write, and comprehend English; follow verbal instructions.
  • Experience with Word, Excel, and Teams. Compensation & Benefits
