About the Role The Grants Analyst II reports to the Manager of Grants Administration and primarily manages pre-award and post-award administration for all external funding to the Cooperative Extension unit within the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources (CANR). The role also supports college-wide financial and budget projections for Federal Appropriations and cost share on state appropriations, helping CANR leadership with decision making and planning. What You'll Do
- Provide in-depth pre-award support including close communication with the Principal Investigator and Extension personnel; review solicitation information and sponsor requirements; advise on budgets, certifications, effort, and matching funds; coordinate with subcontract participants when applicable; verify accuracy prior to submission to the University Research Office.
- Create, collect, and review complex proposal information such as budgets, budget justification, and proposal documents; recommend sources of matching funds and advise the PI on optimal resource use.
- Review award documents for restrictions, reports, and any award-specific requirements.
- Process journal vouchers, budget revisions, reconcile account code activity, and manage the Labor Allocation Module (LAM); serve as the unit's Effort Administrator.
- Act as liaison between faculty/Extension personnel and the Research Office on all proposal matters; communicate with the Research Office and other CANR departments to monitor and manage sponsored funds.
- Communicate with sponsors in conjunction with Extension leadership.
- Collaborate with the Cooperative Extension Business Administrator to review financial statements and ensure expenditures are allocated to proper grants/accounts and correct budget categories for Federal Appropriations personnel engagements; review monthly financial statements with the Associate Dean for Cooperative Extension to verify proper allocation.
