Job title: Grant Submission Manager
About the Role The Grant Submission Manager is responsible for pre-award grant compliance and grant and applicable contract submissions, supporting the Director of Research. This role supports administrative and regulatory aspects of research proposals and contracts within the Office of Research and Sponsored Programs (ORSP).
What You'll Do
- Review grants and incoming contracts for compliance and support submission of faculty and staff-led proposals.
- Assist the Director of Research with application of proposal and contracts/bid submission guidelines and federal regulations.
- Provide administrative support for ORSP events (e.g., Research and Creativity Showcase) and coordinate grant training workshops.
- Review and incorporate faculty feedback on budgets and administrative forms in grant submissions.
- Maintain the grants database and Cayuse.
- Serve as liaison for sub-award compliance review and paperwork (incoming/outgoing).
- Support grant routing and administration; assist with preparation of contracts.
- Cross-train in office compliance functions and maintain web-based sites related to research.
- Coordinate/support office personnel including the human/animal research director and the director of strategic research.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's Degree.
- Two years of experience with the grant/contract process.
- Experience with federal funder submission portals (ASSIST, Research.gov, Grants.gov).
- Knowledge of federal opportunities, particularly NIH and NSF.
Nice to Have
- Master’s Degree.
- Proficiency in MS Office (word-processing, spreadsheets, presentations) and databases.
- Ability to work on competing deadlines/priorities.
- Excellent writing and oral communication skills.
- Commitment to diversity and inclusion and experience working with diverse populations.
- Knowledge of the grant proposal process.
- Advanced use of office software (spreadsheets, databases, Outlook).
- Experience creating/reviewing/developing project budgets.
- Experience and sensitivity in working with people of diverse backgrounds and cultures.
- Demonstrated experience advancing social justice, equity, and inclusion in a university setting.
- Ability to engage and integrate culturally responsive practices.
Compensation & Benefits
- Hiring Range: $73,000 - $76,000 per year. This is an in-person role; relocation within California preferred (ideally within 25 miles of the Stockton campus).
