Job title: Grant Accountant
About the Role The Grant Accountant will establish and maintain grant accounts, monitor expenditures, and ensure compliance with external agencies and university policies. This role provides financial support for sponsored programs and assists with audits, contributing to accurate grant reporting and accounting operations to support Voorhees University's mission.
What You'll Do
- Establish and maintain grant accounts in the university’s financial system.
- Communicate monthly with grant principal investigators.
- Monitor grant expenditures to ensure costs are allowable and reasonable.
- Review transactions for compliance with external agency and university policies.
- Track grant budgets and spending patterns and identify potential overruns or underutilization.
- Prepare and submit financial reports to funding agencies according to grant requirements.
- Reconcile grant accounts monthly.
- Assist with grant closeout procedures.
- Maintain accurate supporting documentation for all grant-related transactions.
- Assist with internal and external audits.
- Calculate and update indirect cost allocations as required.
- Assist in developing grant proposal budgets and budget justifications.
- Any other duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or business-related field.
- Five years of experience with private/federal funding agencies in higher education or affiliate organizations preferred.
- Knowledge of accounting principles, practices, and procedures.
- Requires occasional travel to attend workshops/seminars.
- Requires maturity and experience to interface with all levels of management and sponsored program personnel.

Compensation & Benefits
- Salary: $50,000 – $55,000 USD per year.
- Full-time position; 12 months.
- Standard office environment; extended evenings and weekends and travel may be required.
