Job title: Graduate Student Assistant
About the Role The Graduate Student Assistant will support the Supplemental Review Sessions (SRS) program and the MASS Center drop-in tutoring within the Learning Commons at UC. This role helps provide structured academic support for students in 1000- and 2000-level math and quantitative science courses, under the guidance of experienced SRS Leaders and Coordinators.
What You'll Do
- Administrative Support: assist with the compilation and organization of SRS material on Canvas, SRS attendance tracking, observations, weekly communications, timekeeping, and other administrative tasks as needed.
- Training: assist with the training of SRS Leaders, MASS Tutors, and Coordinators; identify areas where additional training is beneficial and develop training materials.
- Supervision: provide observation feedback to SRS Leaders and MASS Tutors, assist with supervision of SRS Coordinators, handle disciplinary issues and employee professional development, and assist with staffing oversight and scheduling.
- Assessment: evaluate usage, effectiveness, and student satisfaction of the SRS program and MASS Center through weekly usage data as well as surveys.
- General Office Support: GAs can schedule hours during all Learning Commons open times; may be asked to assist with opening, closing, on-call shifts, focus group facilitation, and Learning Commons presentations as necessary.
- Office-Wide Projects: GAs may collaborate with professionals from across the Learning Commons on office-wide projects and initiatives for professional development.

- Desired qualifications: Understanding of and experience with academic support programs; interest in student engagement and active learning; experience with assessment and data analysis.
Nice to Have
- Proficiency with Microsoft 365 (Word and Excel) and UC’s Learning Management System (Canvas).
Compensation & Benefits
- Hours: 10 hours per week.
- Duration: July 2026 – June 2027 (one calendar year).
- Pay: $9,000 stipend, paid in a manner consistent with a part-time graduate student appointment; roughly $19.56 per hour equivalent.
- Breaks: Graduate Assistants are not required to work during university breaks; if needed, pay will be provided separately for time worked during these weeks.
- Additional: UC is an E-Verify employer; you must provide satisfactory proof of employment eligibility via I-9 process; as a UC student employee, you will not contribute to the federal Social Security system beyond Medicare.
