What you'll achieve

As a Graduate Automation Engineer, you will work with local and global cross-functional teams to develop, support, and optimize manufacturing automation solutions within Cork Manufacturing Operations. You will gain hands-on experience with industrial automation systems, robotics, controls, and digital manufacturing technologies while supporting both New Product Introduction (NPI) and steady-state manufacturing operations.

You will:

  • Support the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of automated manufacturing systems and processes.
  • Assist in the programming, troubleshooting, and optimization of PLC-controlled equipment.
  • Support the integration and commissioning of robotics and automated manufacturing equipment.
  • Develop and maintain software tools, scripts, and applications to improve manufacturing efficiency and data visibility.
  • Assist with troubleshooting automation, controls, and communication issues across manufacturing systems.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to support New Product Introduction activities and manufacturing readiness.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on productivity, quality, automation, and operational excellence.

Essential Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree (Level 8) in Automation Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Understanding of PLC programming, including Siemens and/or Allen-Bradley platforms.
  • Familiarity with robotics and automated manufacturing equipment.
  • Programming experience in Python, C#, Java, SQL, or similar programming languages.
  • Understanding of industrial communication protocols, including:
  • Ethernet/IP
  • Modbus
  • Profinet
  • OPC-UA
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Good troubleshooting capability and attention to detail.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively within cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a dynamic manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated willingness and enthusiasm to learn new technologies and automation platforms.
  • Fluency in English with strong written and verbal communication skills.

Desirable Requirements:

  • Knowledge of SCADA and HMI systems.
  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies.
