Job title: Graduate Assistant - Track & Field (Coaching Leadership Program)
About the Role This position supports the Mount Marty University Athletics Department while pursuing the Master of Education in Coaching Leadership. The role involves assisting with track & field training, recruitment, and program operations in compliance with NAIA and GPAC regulations. To be considered, applicants must be accepted into the Coaching Leadership program and meet GPA, reference, and essay requirements.
What You'll Do
- Assist with development and implementation of training plans for designated event group(s) during indoor and outdoor track & field seasons, with emphasis on events such as high jump, long jump, and triple jump (and related throwing events as needed).
- Coach student-athletes during practices and meets; provide oversight and evaluation of daily progress.
- Recruit prospective student-athletes in compliance with university goals and NAIA guidelines; engage with recruits and families, coordinate campus visits, and maintain regular contact.
- Participate in event scheduling, budget management, procurement of equipment, meet management for collegiate/high school events, and fundraising activities.
- Accept other duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor and align with department needs.
What We're Looking For
- Acceptance into Mount Marty University Master of Education in Coaching Leadership Program; minimum 2.75 GPA.
- Three letters of reference from a supervisor, coach, professor/colleague; 1-2 page essay explaining purpose, goals, and commitment to the program.
- Experience or strong interest in track & field events (high jump, long jump, triple jump; and/or discus, shot put, javelin, weight throw, hammer throw).
- Ability to recruit under NAIA guidelines; strong communication, organization, and leadership skills.
- Familiarity with NAIA and GPAC regulations, event management, and fundraising is a plus.
Nice to Have
- Prior track & field coaching experience; success in developing student-athletes.
- Experience with event scheduling, budgeting, equipment procurement, and public relations.
- Knowledge of NAIA/GPAC rules and athletics operations.
Compensation & Benefits
- 2/3 tuition waiver from Mount Marty’s Master of Education in Coaching Leadership Program.
- $2,500 academic stipend.
- Additional income opportunities available during the off-season.
