Job title: Global Trade Compliance Manager
About the Role Lead and oversee Wolfspeed's global trade compliance program, ensuring adherence to U.S. and foreign import/export laws (EAR, ITAR, OFAC) and related sanctions. Act as strategic partner to the business, directing policy development, training, and regulatory filings, while collaborating with operations, R&D, product management, logistics, and legal.
What You'll Do
- Support, implement, and maintain the global trade compliance program (policies, procedures, internal controls, compliance IT systems, documentation, training).
- Monitor and interpret changes in trade laws; assess risk; advise on business impacts; work with legal and consulting experts; translate regulatory language into practical guidance.
- Collaborate with functional areas to identify export/import needs and implement program requirements.
- Conduct transaction due diligence, screen for restricted parties, evaluate red flags, apply for export licenses or license exceptions, ensure proper documentation and regulatory filings for shipments, and manage recordkeeping.
- Classify goods (HS, ECCN), determine country of origin, and determine requirements for export licensing; determine application of tariffs and customs duties.
- Oversee customs brokerage; identify and manage duty mitigation programs (duty drawback and tariff refunds); administer CTPAT certification to optimize costs and maximize recovery.
- Proactively identify opportunities for collaboration with business leaders; review and assess the program to meet compliance obligations and business objectives; address potential quality, service, and cost issues.
- Conduct post-entry audits on entry packets; perform regular internal audits and risk assessments; monitor trade activities and systems; implement corrective actions and disclosures with legal as necessary.
- Provide regulatory reporting on trade compliance and risk management to leadership.
- Provide training to employees across departments; maintain and update trade compliance tools and documentation; share updates with the organization.
- Serve as primary liaison on global trade compliance with internal teams and external partners (brokers, regulators, legal services, consultants, industry associations, and vendors).
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business, International Trade, or related field.
- 7+ years of international trade compliance experience (export controls, customs, sanctions, and related logistics).
- Active U.S. Licensed Customs Broker certification or similar certifications preferred but not required.
- Subject matter expert in customs/tariffs rules, EAR, ITAR, and OFAC sanctions.
- Ability to work strategically and operationally, and to manage complex projects in a fast-paced, global environment.
- Experience engaging with regulators, collaboration with industry associations and trade networks, and use of legal/consulting services.
- Acute attention to detail, strong project management, and professional communication.
Nice to Have
- Active U.S. Licensed Customs Broker certification or similar certifications (preferred).
- Experience working with regulators and trade associations.
