About the Role As a Global Technical Engineering Specialist - Property, you will contribute to developing technical risk engineering guidelines, perform risk evaluations for insured properties, and lead training and support for risk engineers, underwriters, and clients. You’ll work with leadership to determine AIG’s stance on emerging issues and participate in industry groups to help shape standards. What You'll Do
- Contribute to the development of technical risk engineering guidelines, bulletins, processes, and tools.
- Maintain current industry knowledge of losses and research new technologies and emerging risks.
- Assist with complex technical property questions and plan reviews.
- Conduct research for technical issues where there is limited or no industry guidance and work with Head of Technical Services, Chief Underwriting Office, and Risk Engineering Leadership to determine AIG’s stance.
- Lead training and development within risk engineering, underwriting, and external clients and organizations.
- Manage training enrollment and participation records.
- Manage the training and technical guideline libraries.
- Work with Head of Technical Services and Risk Engineering Managers to support development of systems and process efficiencies.
- Maintain and oversee the development of risk engineering tools.
- Participate in external technical and industry groups (NFPA, CFPS, etc.). What We're Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics or equivalent industry knowledge.
- Minimum fifteen (15) years of highly protected risk, specialized industry and/or boiler and machinery field experience.
- Knowledge of a wide range of commercial property occupancies, including light hazard and heavy industrial occupancies.
- Strong communication skills—oral and written.
- Ability/willingness to travel to client meetings as well as technical conferences.
- Soft Skills: Highly motivated and works well without close supervision; able to make decisions with and without established guidelines; able to provide technical support to risk engineers, underwriters, and clients; able to work with Global Head of Technical Services, Account Teams, and Underwriters; able to multi-task and meet deadlines.
- Hard Skills: Professional Engineer (PE) or Certified Fire Protection Specialist (CFPS) designation (desired); ability to perform reviews of buildings and other structures; ability to read risk reports, construction drawings, and diagrams; familiarity with NFPA, FM and other industry standards.
- Additional Requirements: physical ability to perform activities (standing/walking, lifting up to 50 lbs, wearing PPE); ability to be online on Teams daily when part of an immediate-access support team. Nice to Have
- PE or CFPS designation (desired).
- Familiarity with NFPA and FM standards (preferred). Compensation & Benefits
- For Colorado-based positions, base salary range is $150,000-$188,000, and final offers may be higher or lower based on location and other factors. This role is eligible for a bonus under the applicable incentive plan.
