Allstate Protection Plans, formerly SquareTrade, helps customers protect the products they use every day, from phones and electronics to appliances and furniture.
We are seeking a Director of Global Accounting to lead accounting operations, financial reporting, controls, and transformation across our global business. This is an opportunity to shape how a growing, technology-enabled organization approaches accounting while building consistent practices across markets and legal entities.
The Director will combine strong technical accounting expertise with practical business judgment, global leadership, and a passion for modernization. A key focus will be responsibly applying AI, automation, and analytics to improve accounting quality, accelerate the close, strengthen controls, and create capacity for more strategic work.
What You’ll Do

Lead global accounting operations and controllership activities across multiple legal entities and markets.

Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial results.

Maintain consistent application of U.S. GAAP, Allstate accounting policies, and applicable local requirements.

Provide accounting leadership for new products, commercial partnerships, service contracts, revenue arrangements, claims liabilities, and market expansion.

Strengthen balance-sheet governance, reconciliations, financial controls, and issue-resolution processes.

Partner with internal and external auditors to maintain audit readiness and address findings.

Collaborate with Finance, Tax, Treasury, Legal, Technology, Operations, Product, and other business partners.

Develop and lead a high-performing global accounting team, including talent development and succession planning.

Lead Accounting Modernization

Develop a practical roadmap for using AI, automation, analytics, and process standardization across accounting.

Identify opportunities to improve reconciliations, variance analysis, transaction classification, anomaly detection, accounting research, and close monitoring.

Ensure AI-enabled accounting solutions include appropriate human judgment, documentation, data protection, and governance.

Partner with Technology, Data, Risk, Internal Audit, and Information Security to implement responsible and sustainable solutions.

Build AI fluency within the accounting team through education, experimentation, and adoption of approved tools.

Measure transformation success through improvements in accuracy, close speed, controls, scalability, and employee capacity.

What You’ll Bring
-
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
-
CPA, Chartered Accountant, or comparable professional qualification strongly preferred.
-
Progressive leadership experience in accounting, controllership, financial reporting, or audit.

Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, internal controls, balance-sheet governance, and close management.
-
Experience supporting international operations, multiple legal entities, and global or regional accounting requirements.
-
Experience leading accounting transformation, automation, ERP, or finance modernization initiatives.
-
Practical understanding of AI, analytics, and emerging technology applications within accounting or finance.
-
Experience in protection products, warranties, service contracts, insurance, consumer services, or another regulated industry is preferred.

Public accounting experience with a major global accounting firm is preferred.
