Global Category Manager for IT Software & Hardware

About the Role Global Category Manager for IT Software & Hardware will lead the long-term category roadmap for IT spend across Roche Diagnostics Instruments. You will develop strategies, manage tier-one providers, and translate objectives into bottom-line value while working with a global procurement organization. What You'll Do

• Develop and formalize a global Category Strategy and initiative pipeline aligned with business goals.
• Lead high-value commercial negotiations with strategic IT suppliers; manage contractual frameworks.
• Manage supplier ecosystems, establish development and innovation programs, monitor value targets and risks.
• Create and maintain category guidance documents to translate strategy into actionable content for procurement and business users.
• Partner with senior stakeholders across functions; challenge demand/specifications to maximize value; oversee CSR reviews.
• Coach and develop procurement colleagues, manage a shared Associate Category Manager, and track budget spend.
• Report on performance, risks, and sustainability priorities; drive cost resilience and value capture.
• Travel up to 30%. What We're Looking For
• Strategic procurement champion with extensive knowledge of global IT hardware and off-the-shelf software markets; matrix leadership skills.
• Education: University degree (Business or Life Sciences focus preferred); post-graduate business qualification preferred.
• Experience: 5+ years in strategic and operational procurement with deep category management and advanced sourcing experience.
• Regulated Industry: 5+ years in a regulated industry like Diagnostics with familiarity of relevant legal and quality risks.
• Market Expertise: Deep knowledge of instrument control environments and dependencies (IT HW: servers, PCs, IPCs, CPUs, firewalls; IT SW: OS, databases; IP Licensing).
• Systems & Analytics: Proficiency with enterprise systems, P2P tools, and sourcing platforms (eSourcing, eAuction).
• AI & Digitalization: Advanced knowledge of AI applications and interest in AI-driven transformations (Digital 2.0 / Industry 4.0).
• Financial Acumen: Strong grounding in total cost of ownership (TCO) and cost modeling.
• Leadership & Change: Excellent communication, project management, and change management skills; ability to lead global cross-functional teams.
• Languages: Business-level English.
