GIS Analyst

About the Role The role is responsible for designing and maintaining Entergy's electronic facility and maintenance information systems (GIS), generating reports, analyzing data, and designing system architecture to support distribution operations. What You'll Do

• Design and perform edits in electronic facility and maintenance information systems including GE Smallworld, ESRI ArcGIS Desktop Applications & AutoCAD.
• Perform QA/QC on as-built designs and construction projects to ensure accuracy in the GIS electric model.
• Input and edit Entergy’s as-built electric distribution GIS model; maintain spatial data and dissemination; provide end-user support; generate maps and GIS reports using ArcGIS, GE Smallworld, and other applications as needed.
• Prepare regular status reports and data analysis; perform records management; lead in training other employees to navigate and edit within GIS.
• Conduct field walk downs to identify subsurface conflicts and validate facilities; support engineering, construction, maintenance, conflict resolution and damage prevention activities.
• Assist with planning and implementation of data conversion and migration; assist with distribution facility design; provide storm/outage restoration assistance. What We're Looking For
• Minimum education: 2-year technology or bachelor’s degree in geography, geosciences, computer science or related field (or equivalent work experience).
• Minimum experience: 2 years of experience using GE SmallWorld, ESRI ArcGIS and/or vector/raster rendering systems (or equivalent academic experience).
• Proficiency in ESRI ArcGIS, GE Small World, and/or vector/raster rendering systems; ability to provide technical expertise related to asset management.
• Understanding of Coordinate Systems and geography; programming skills (Python, SQL); imaging and multimedia; solid PC applications, networking and databases.
• Demonstrated proficiency using Microsoft Word, Access, Excel; strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities; excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to interface with all levels of management and employees; adaptable to both field and office environments; availability for late hours, callouts, weekends, and outage restoration; willingness to assist with gas or electric restoration during emergencies; ability to lead GIS/data research projects.
