About the Role Kiewit is seeking a mid-level Geotechnical Engineer to perform geotechnical analyses and design for projects across the United States, producing construction documents and design memorandums. You will work within interdisciplinary teams to support design and construction activities, including cofferdams, retaining walls, excavations, and foundation design.
What You'll Do
- Provide project support during the proposal/bid phase with team members to identify and evaluate innovative and cost-effective geotechnical design solutions to problems and challenges.
- Work with pursuit team to identify key design risks and develop risk mitigation plans.
- Produce, review, and provide Engineer of Record responsibilities for detailed calculation packages, drawings, and design memorandums.
- Train and develop staff engineers.
- Perform geotechnical analyses across varied project types and produce construction documents and design memorandums.
- Travel to project offices and work sites as required.
What We're Looking For
- Master’s degree, or equivalent, in Geotechnical Engineering or closely related field; 5+ years of relevant geotechnical experience on U.S. construction projects; Professional Engineer (PE) license in the U.S. is required.
- Broad technical knowledge including deep/shallow foundations, slope stability, seismic engineering, retaining wall design, earth retention, rock mechanics, settlement of compressible soils, ground improvement, support of excavation, and dewatering.
- Experience with cofferdams and support of excavation is required.
- Strong verbal and written communication, coordination, teamwork, and leadership of others.
- Ability to travel to project sites; EPC or Design-Build experience preferred; AI tools/experience preferred.
- Regular attendance, safety-focused, and able to work in team environment.
