About this role
Geoscientist III
Location: Lagos
Employment Type: Contract
Overall Purpose of the Job
- Responsible for integrating geological, geophysical, petrophysical, reservoir and production data to develop robust predictive subsurface models that support field development, reservoir management, production optimisation and reserves maturation.
- The role identifies and matures development and production opportunities, provides geological assurance throughout the well-delivery process, and applies appropriate technologies and uncertainty-management techniques to improve reservoir understanding, optimize hydrocarbon recovery and reduce subsurface and drilling risks.
- The role supports the maturation and delivery of development and production opportunities across assigned assets and contributes to integrated subsurface studies, reservoir-management decisions, well delivery and hydrocarbon reserves growth.
- The Senior Geoscientist operates in a multidisciplinary environment and provides production-geology input to activities undertaken with internal teams, partners and specialist contractors.
Principal Accountabilities
- Develop and maintain integrated geological models incorporating seismic interpretation, well correlations, petrophysical evaluation, reservoir properties and production information.
- Integrate geological and dynamic data to improve understanding of reservoir architecture, connectivity, compartmentalization, fluid distribution and remaining hydrocarbon potential.
- Identify, evaluate and mature development and production opportunities, including infill wells, sidetracks, workovers and other reservoir-management opportunities.
- Provide production-geology input to integrated subsurface studies, Field Development Plans and reservoir-management activities, ensuring delivery to the required technical quality and agreed schedule.
- Lead geological input to development and appraisal well maturation and the Well Delivery Process (WDP), including well objectives, correlations, reservoir targets, depth prognosis, geological uncertainties, drilling risks and data-acquisition requirements.
- Provide geological support during drilling and workover operations, ensuring timely interpretation of new well information and effective management of geological uncertainties and drilling risks.
- Prepare and quality-assure geological inputs to well proposals, well resumes, post-well evaluations and End-of-Well Reports, and incorporate new well results into subsurface models, maps and databases.
- Apply geological risk and uncertainty analysis to subsurface interpretations, volumetric assessments and development decisions.
- Participate in peer, integrated and value-assurance reviews, ensuring geological evaluations and recommendations meet required technical standards.
- Collaborate across Geoscience, Reservoir Engineering, Production Technology, Wells and other disciplines to deliver integrated field-development, reservoir-management and production decisions.
- Coach and mentor less-experienced geoscientists and contribute to technical knowledge sharing, capability development and approved technical publications.
