About the Role The Geo-Environmental Specialist is responsible for supporting NESL under the direction of the Geo-Environmental Manager, including completing permits to governmental agencies to fulfill business requirements, researching and preparing grant applications, exploring future business development opportunities, managing property and community, property, compliance and improvement projects, and promoting compliance with regulations. This role also provides training and knowledge to coworkers and managers dealing with regulated government programs. What You'll Do
- Develop and maintain monitoring programs to meet corporate goals, including learning, developing and executing monitoring and sampling programs at multiple sites, site inspections, and maintaining disposal records.
- Corporate property management, including maintaining property lists, managing property and leases at multiple sites, assisting with exploration, and evaluating property inquiries, acquisitions and disposals.
- Governmental compliance, including submitting accurate reports to governmental agencies, leading and participating in the resolution of compliance issues, ensuring understanding and execution of site-specific special conditions, managing unstaffed inactive sites, and maintaining environmental permits.
- Administrative tasks, including creating financial feasibility studies on new processes, projects and plans; managing accounts and invoices for subcontractors; ensuring compliance with corporate policies and local, state & federal regulations; updating management on trends and issues related to compliance; assisting with financial planning for retirement of assets; and keeping management and coworkers informed about area of expertise.
- Perform other duties as assigned. What We're Looking For
- Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, Mining Engineering, Geology or equivalent.
- Minimum of three (3) years of relevant experience.
- Experience with AutoCAD and other engineering or mapping software; proficiency with AutoCAD, IntelliCAD, Calson and Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Demonstrated knowledge of current mining regulations and processes.
- Ability to build professional relationships with leaders and external networks.
- Excellent customer service orientation.
- Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously; strong attention to detail and good organizational skills; ability to work independently but as part of a team; flexibility and the ability to operate under time-sensitive deadlines.
- Proficiency in IntelliCAD, Calson and other engineering or mapping software; proficiency in using Microsoft Office.
- Valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
