Job title: General Superintendent - Mass Grading
About the Role The Planet Group is seeking a Mass Grading General Superintendent to lead multiple large-scale utility construction projects. This role requires extensive estimating experience, field operations leadership, and the ability to manage hundreds of craft personnel across projects, with a willingness to travel nationwide.
What You'll Do
- Oversee management of construction activities and task assignments, coordinating with other departments to ensure materials, equipment, and inspections support the project schedule.
- Work with Project Manager(s) to budget, forecast, and manage craft labor, equipment, materials, small tools, consumables, and the general working environment.
- Lead the creation, review, and update of project schedules and three-week look-ahead; develop and implement site utilization plans and determine crew sizes.
- Drive pre-construction planning sessions and project site meetings; provide leadership through coaching, mentorship, performance evaluations, and training of field personnel.
- Manage open shop and union issues; develop relationships with customers, architects, union representatives, subcontractors, and visitors.
- Lead site work and logistics, offering improvement recommendations; assist Field Operations Manager with monthly project reviews (budget, schedule, labor, safety, quality, and equipment).
- Travel nationwide up to 100% as required (weekly travel or rotating onsite schedules).
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or related field, or equivalent construction experience.
- Minimum 14 years of construction management experience.
- Experience overseeing at least two utility construction projects valued at $600 million or greater.
- Experience managing hundreds of craft employees, including Superintendents, Foremen, and field personnel.
- Extensive pre-construction planning experience; strong knowledge of utility testing, estimating, and quality control.
- Strong knowledge of construction operations, scheduling, budgeting, labor management, safety, and quality control.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office; current valid driver's license.
- Ability to travel up to 100%; willing to travel weekly (Mon-Fri with weekends home) or comply with rotating on-site schedules.

Nice to Have
- Experience resolving open shop and union issues and coordinating with multiple stakeholders on large-scale projects.
- Advanced knowledge of site utilization planning and crew sizing optimization.
Compensation & Benefits
- Base Salary: $180,000 - $220,000 annually
- Annual Performance Bonus: Target bonus up to 20%; 40% based on individual performance; 60% based on company performance
- Opportunity to earn up to 150% of target bonus
- Bonus paid annually each March
- Incentive Pay Program: Additional 5% bonus paid on every paycheck
