Job Title: General Manager - Operations (Construction)
Location: Lagos

Responsibilities

Oversee and manage the company’s day-to-day construction operations, ensuring projects are delivered efficiently, safely, on time, and within budget.

Lead multiple construction and infrastructure projects from mobilization to project delivery

Provide techincal leadership across civil and infrastructure

Oversee FIDIC/NEC/JCT contracts, claims, variations and final accounts.

Develop and implement operational strategies, policies, procedures, and systems to improve overall business performance.

Provide leadership and direction to Project Managers, Site Managers, Engineers, Quantity Surveyors, Procurement, Logistics, and other operational teams.

Monitor the progress of all construction projects and ensure compliance with approved budgets, timelines, specifications, and quality standards.

Review project schedules, work plans, manpower requirements, equipment needs, and resource allocation.

Ensure effective coordination between the head office, project sites, clients, consultants, subcontractors, and suppliers.

Monitor project costs and work closely with the Finance and Quantity Surveying teams to control expenditure and improve profitability.

Oversee procurement and ensure the timely availability of construction materials, equipment, tools, and other project resources.

Manage the effective deployment, maintenance, and utilization of construction equipment, vehicles, and machinery.

Identify operational risks and implement appropriate measures to minimize delays, cost overruns, waste, and other project challenges.

Ensure all projects comply with relevant Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) requirements, company policies, and applicable construction regulations.

Establish and maintain quality control standards across all construction projects.

Monitor the performance of contractors, subcontractors, suppliers, and service providers, ensuring contractual obligations are met.

Lead regular operational and project performance review meetings and provide management with accurate reports and recommendations.

Develop and monitor Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for projects, departments, and operational teams.

Build strong relationships with clients, consultants, government agencies, vendors, and other key stakeholders.

Support the Managing Director/Executive Management in business planning, budgeting, strategic decision-making, and operational growth.

Ensure effective workforce planning, staff deployment, performance management, and training across operational teams.

Resolve operational conflicts and bottlenecks promptly to ensure continuity of project execution.

Identify opportunities to reduce operational costs, improve productivity, minimize wastage, and increase project profitability.

Ensure proper documentation, reporting, and record-keeping across all construction projects.

Conduct regular site visits to assess project progress, identify challenges, and ensure adherence to company standards.

Ensure timely completion and proper handover of completed projects to clients.

Drive continuous improvement in construction processes, operational efficiency, and organizational performance.

Salary
N1,000,000 - N1,300,000 monthly.
