About the Role The General Maintenance 3 - Plumber role is a skilled maintenance position at Cleveland Metroparks, performing master level plumbing and related trade work with guidance from the Zoo Manager of Buildings & Facilities. It involves construction-style tasks, building maintenance, and coordinating with staff to keep facilities safe and functional.
What You'll Do
- Perform master level skilled trade work in Plumbing and related building maintenance (e.g., drywall installation, cabinetry, flooring, locksmithing, ceiling tile repairs, electrical and welding tasks) as assigned.
- Operate light equipment (tractors, chain saws, generators, trucks) and provide construction labor for road/path paving, drainage tile, wood deck installation, and other projects.
- Provide work direction to seasonal employees; maintain safe work practices and a clean, safe work environment.
- Paint structures as directed; respond to fire alarm systems when required; keep supervisor informed of key issues.
- Assist with construction and maintenance activities and ensure compliance with safety standards.
What We're Looking For
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- A minimum of five (5) years of skilled trade experience in construction or maintenance preferred.
- Ability to lift approximately 100 lbs.; valid Ohio driver’s license; basic computer skills.
- Backflow certification preferred.
- Physical capacity for outdoor labor and outdoor conditions.
Nice to Have
- Backflow certification (preferred).
- Experience operating equipment such as backhoes, tractors, dump trucks, and bucket trucks.
Compensation & Benefits
- Base wage of $36.19 per hour. Schedule: Tuesday-Saturday, 7:00am–3:30pm.
