Job Title: General Finance Specialist

Location: Lagos

Employment Type: Full-time

Purpose of the Role

• The General Finance Specialist will be responsible for monitoring all financial data, maintaining day-to-day accounting activities, and ensuring monthly financial reporting is accurate, reliable, and complete.
• Working within a dynamic finance team, you will play a key role in statutory compliance, financial reporting, audit support, cash flow management, and monthly close activities.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee the Accounts Payable function operated through Vertiv's centralized shared services team.

• Maintain the Fixed Asset Register in compliance with local GAAP and US GAAP requirements.

• Manage CAPEX tracking and reporting.

• Perform monthly reconciliations of Accounts Payable ledgers.

• Prepare and maintain bank reconciliations, petty cash records, and daily bank balance reporting.

• Prepare and monitor cash flow actuals and forecasts.

• Process intercompany billings and recharges, including indirect sales commissions.

• Manage POC clearing and invoice receipts for foreign suppliers.

• Prepare, analyse, and ensure the completeness of month-end reporting packages.

• Perform balance sheet reconciliations and revaluations.

• Prepare statutory returns and schedules for:

• VAT

• PAYE

• Withholding Tax (WHT)

• Liaise with external auditors and coordinate audit requirements.

• Prepare audit schedules and support the statutory audit process.

• Assist with the preparation of statutory financial statements and related filings.

• Perform HFM reporting and journal uploads.

• Support margin analysis reporting and financial trend analysis.

• Manage import/export accounting transactions.

• Perform NLF calculations and related financial reporting activities.

• Support ongoing compliance, reporting, and ad-hoc finance projects as required.

• What You'll Bring

• Essential Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.

• Fully qualified ICAN professional certification.

• 7-8 years' accounting experience in a multinational or complex business environment.

• Strong experience in:

• Month-end close activities

• Financial reporting

• Balance sheet reconciliations

• Tax compliance

• Audit support and coordination

• Cash flow management

• Working knowledge of:

• VAT

• PAYE

• Withholding Tax (WHT)

• Statutory filing requirements

• Experience working with Oracle ERP.

• Experience with HFM / Hyperion Financial Management reporting.

• Advanced Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office skills.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

• Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal.

Preferred Experience:

• Experience within an international or multinational organisation.
• Exposure to US GAAP reporting requirements.
• Experience supporting external audits and tax authority audits.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
