About the Role The General Assistant will support in-store customer service, merchandising and housekeeping within a designated area of responsibility. This role helps ensure a positive shopping experience through accurate pricing, safe stock handling and clean presentation of store areas. What You'll Do
- Provide exceptional customer service and assist with customer queries
- Advise customers on correct products and resolve complaints when needed
- Merchandize stock, ensure shelf price labelling and adherence to store layout/planograms
- Keep your area tidy, accessible and free of obstacles; handle stock on receipt and maintain housekeeping
- Complete checklists and comply with canteen and toilet/shower schedules
- Ensure OHSA safety compliance and use of safety gear; keep area safe for customers and staff
- Report discrepancies or damaged stock to the Store Manager and assist with stock loss management
- Maintain proper stock levels and ensure area is fully merchandised according to layout What We're Looking For
- Minimum Grade 10 or NQF 3 with 1 year related work experience, or Grade 12 with no related work experience
- Ability to communicate in English and the dominant language in the local area
- Valid South African ID or work permit
- Ability to perform basic calculations accurately
- Willingness to work shifts, weekends and public holidays; ability to work under pressure Nice to Have
