About the Role The General Assistant will provide comprehensive customer service in-store and support merchandising and housekeeping within the designated area. This external-application role focuses on assisting customers, labeling shelf prices, and maintaining stock presentation according to store layout. What You'll Do
- Provide friendly, helpful customer service and advise on correct products and answer queries.
- Assist with and resolve customer complaints.
- Merchandise stock area and maintain standards according to store layout and planograms.
- Ensure area is fully merchandised and free of obstacles; stock is merchandised immediately after receipt; customers can access the aisle safely.
- Ensure accurate shelf price labeling within area of responsibility.
- Adhere to safety (OHSA) requirements and use safety gear as needed to keep customers and staff safe.
- Report discrepancies to the Store Manager and manage stock loss within area of responsibility.
- Be willing to work shifts, weekends and public holidays; perform duties under pressure. What We're Looking For
- Minimum Grade 10 or NQF 3 with 1 year of work-related experience, or Grade 12 with no related work experience.
- Ability to communicate in English and the dominant language spoken in the area.
- Valid South African ID or work permit.
- Ability to perform basic calculations accurately.
- Must be willing to work shifts, weekends and public holidays.
- Ability to work under pressure.
