About the Role The General Assistant (External Applications Only) supports in-store customer service, merchandising, and housekeeping within a defined area of responsibility. You will assist customers, manage stock presentation, price labelling, and uphold store safety and layout standards. This role requires strong communication, basic math, and the ability to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays. What You'll Do
- Provide comprehensive customer service in-store, advise and assist customers on correct products and queries, and help resolve customer complaints.
- Merchandise stock in accordance with store layout and planograms; ensure bulk stock areas are safely stocked and fully merchandised.
- Maintain housekeeping: keep your area obstacle-free, merchandised stock immediately after receipt, and ensure customers can enter and leave your aisle safely.
- Ensure accurate shelf price labelling within your area.
- Observe OHSA safety requirements; wear required safety gear and keep area safe for customers and colleagues.
- Report discrepancies to the Store Manager and assist with stock loss management; report damaged stock. What We're Looking For
- Minimum Grade 10 or NQF 3 with 1 year of work-related experience, or Grade 12 without related work experience.
- Ability to communicate in English and the dominant language spoken in the geographic area.
- Valid South African ID or work permit.
- Ability to perform basic calculations accurately.
- Willingness to work shifts, weekends and public holidays; able to work under pressure.
