General Assembly and Machine Operator

About the Role Nexteer Automotive is seeking a General Assembly and Machine Operator to operate high-speed machine tools for fabricating, assembling and/or manufacturing automotive parts. This role involves monitoring the manufacturing/assembly process, recording results, and ensuring quality and safety in a fast-paced production environment. This position is based in Saginaw, Michigan. What You'll Do

• Operate computer-controlled equipment or mechanically based machines to fabricate, assemble, and/or manufacture automotive parts according to specifications.
• Monitor the production process and record results; check machines and equipment for problems; perform routine maintenance to prevent errors.
• Conduct quality checks to ensure parts meet quality standards and specifications.
• Load raw materials as needed and prepare materials for machine operation; read and decipher blueprints; understand and follow safe machine operation practices.
• Maintain awareness of safety, quality, and efficiency; work to achieve production targets while minimizing defects.
• Read, interpret, and follow blueprints; maintain accurate records of production outcomes. What We're Looking For
• Basic math, reading, and analytical skills to understand blueprints, models, and schematics.
• Basic problem-solving skills to diagnose issues, improve output, and fix errors.
• Attention to detail to work with precision equipment and avoid sub-quality parts.
• Physical stamina to stand for long periods and perform repetitive, labor-intensive tasks (up to 12 hours/day, up to 7 days/week); ability to lift 20-35 pounds.
• Dexterity to handle parts of various sizes and operate fine motor tasks.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with exposure to machining and chemicals, odors, and variable temperatures, lighting, and loud noises.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics.
