Job title: Gas Treating Engineer

ExxonMobil is seeking an experienced Gas Treating engineer to join our Kuala Lumpur Technology Center. Based in Kuala Lumpur, you will be working very closely with our global process engineering team and manufacturing sites’ teams to provide deep technical insights into Gas Treating technology and support ExxonMobil’s facilities worldwide.

What You'll Do

  • Provide technical support to manufacturing sites to improve safety, reliability and margin capture.
  • Support and provide technical leadership in the development and deployment of new technology to address business needs.
  • Support the implementation of improvement projects on the existing manufacturing sites.
  • Participate in internal technical communities to share technical knowledge across the circuit.
  • Utilize depth/breadth of experience to identify cross-functional business improvement opportunities and improve work processes and tools.
  • Demonstrate capability to influence without direct authority.
  • Work with line management to identify development opportunities for less experienced engineers in their technical discipline.
  • Mentor early-career and mid-career professionals.
  • Demonstrate technical authority and credibility in technical discipline.

What We're Looking For

  • At least a Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering.
  • 10-15 years of work experience in Oil and Gas, Petrochemical or Refining Industry.
  • Minimum 10 years of work specialization on Gas Treating Units, Sulfur Recovery Plant, Amine, Sour Water System (SWS) for Downstream Oil Refining and/or Upstream Industry.
  • Proficient in the following areas of Gas Treating Units: Unit operation, troubleshooting and optimization; Process Modelling; Tower/Drum/Reactor; Selection; Process development and equipment design for gas treating units.
  • Project development from early screening phase, through lead case selection, detailed engineering, up to unit startup and commissioning.
  • New technology evaluation, development and deployment.
  • Turnaround support which includes inspection and startup.
  • Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills; Strong communication, interpersonal and collaboration skills, especially in multi-cultural global team with both internal and external partners.
  • Strategic thinking and able to develop creative fit for purpose solutions to resolve operational problems.
  • Ability to influence and promote change to achieve desired results with no or minimal direct authority.
  • Willingness to travel internationally as needed for business reasons. Expect about 10% of time required for travel.
