Job title: Furnace Systems Engineer
About the Role Materials Research Furnaces, LLC designs laboratory furnaces with flexibility for a wide variety of R&D applications, including small batch furnaces reaching up to 3000 °C. This role supports enabling these capabilities through configuration, customization, and customer support, including optional kits and control systems.
What You'll Do
- Help configure laboratory furnaces up to 3000 °C (+/- 10°C) with options such as high-vacuum, reducing, oxidizing, inert or partial gas pressures
- Support kits and options: band or mesh heaters, quick quench kit, quick cooling, pressure control, HMI control systems
- Assist with in-house toll-furnace services for temporary high-temperature needs or short-term experiments
- Work with top or front loading designs and highly customizable configurations
What We're Looking For
- Interest in high-temperature furnace systems and R&D applications
- Familiarity with vacuum levels down to 10^-8 Torr and various gas atmospheres
- Ability to work with a wide array of add-on kits and control systems (HMI, pressure control, quench, cooling)
- Collaborative mindset to support flexible, customizable equipment
Nice to Have
- Experience with laboratory furnaces or industrial heating equipment
- Familiarity with HMI controls and fast-quench/fast-cooling workflows
