Job title: Furnace Operator

About the Role Furnace Operator at Linde Advanced Material Technologies will operate and maintain large-scale powder production equipment in a temperature-controlled environment that can be hot, dusty, and humid. You will follow product manufacturing instructions, job safety analyses, and production schedules to ensure safety, efficiency, and quality, with training on the first shift and regular 2nd shift hours.

What You'll Do

• Interpret and follow product manufacturing instructions, job safety analyses, and production schedules to execute daily tasks safely, efficiently, and in accordance with quality standards.
• Support and participate in current and new safety initiatives and policies.
• Follow step-by-step instructions from senior operators in turnover reports, written job instructions, or verbal directions; balance multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Demonstrate strong batch chemistry math skills, performing calculations across units of measure (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, weight percentage conversions).
• Operate and maintain large-scale powder production equipment (atomizers, spray dryers, power cabinets, blenders, screeners, forklifts, scissor lifts, cranes, pallet jacks) while working with high-pressure gases, induction-powered furnaces, and high-vacuum equipment; ensure safe operation in compliance with procedures and safety standards.
• Complete minor to moderate machine adjustments and maintenance repairs as needed using mechanical skills.
• Maintain safety and quality standards in a challenging environment, including wearing respirators and protective clothing; be prepared for noisy conditions.
• Training on first shift with regular 2nd shift (2:00pm–10:30pm), Monday–Friday, in Indianapolis, IN.

What We're Looking For

• A high school diploma or GED is required.
• Previous experience with induction melting or casting operations is strongly preferred but not required.
• Ability to read, understand, and follow complex work instructions with accuracy and attention to detail.
• Highly proficient in mathematical operations across all units of measure (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).
• Experience operating plant equipment and industrial vehicles.
• Physical ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, manipulate hands/fingers, and lift up to 44 lbs.
• Ability to safely wear and work while using a full-face or half-face respirator.
• Strong computer proficiency including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and the ability to quickly learn production-specific software and systems.
• Must be able to work the 2nd shift; training on the 1st shift is provided.
