About this role
About the Role We are seeking a Furnace Applications Engineer to support customization and integration of mid-sized heat treating furnaces for diverse customer needs. This role involves understanding high-temperature capabilities (up to 2200°C), atmosphere options, and automated operation through an intuitive HMI interface. What You'll Do
- Configure and support furnaces with a 1 cubic foot (28 L) usable hot zone up to 2200°C, including option sets such as hydrogen, inert gas, or vacuum atmospheres.
- Advise on heating elements (tungsten rod or mesh) and ensure uniformity and longevity of the hot zone.
- Implement and optimize data acquisition, alarm logging, and unlimited recipe profiles for temperature control and automated runs via an industrial PC-based HMI.
- Customize furnaces to customer specifications, including options like diffusion or turbo pumping, cryogenic pumping, heat exchangers for rapid cooling, and pyrometry. What We're Looking For
- Knowledge of high-temperature furnace technology, precise temperature control, and uniformity considerations up to 2200°C.
- Familiarity with various atmosphere options (hydrogen, inert gas, vacuum) and pumping systems (diffusion, turbo, cryo).
- Experience with tungsten heating elements (rod or mesh) and integration with HMI and data logging.
- Problem-solving mindset and ability to tailor furnace configurations to customer needs and automated operation requirements. Nice to Have
- Exposure to rapid cooling technologies (heat exchangers) and pyrometry instrumentation.
- Experience working with industrial PC interfaces and harsh-environment hardware.
