Functional Consultant – S4 Hana Finance

About the Role Functional Consultant – S4 Hana Finance SME is a role within the Finance & Tax Competency responsible for delivering next-generation SAP S/4HANA Finance & Tax solutions in a complex ERP environment. The role works with cross-functional teams to design, configure, test, and hand over finance-related ERP solutions to operations. What You'll Do

• Lead end-to-end delivery of S/4HANA Finance & Tax functional solutions, including design, configuration, testing, cut-over, and production handover.
• Estimate finance scope, coach the broader functional team, and deliver the agreed Finance & Tax functional solution scope for complex ERP transformation programs.
• Translate finance requirements (legal, fiscal, and regulatory) into system configurations in line with project delivery scope.
• Collaborate closely with SAP functional analysts, project delivery leads, and business users to ensure robust, compliant configurations.
• Work with Finance and Tax Design Authorities to understand and incorporate emerging functionality into the S/4 enterprise design.
• Function as a key collector of product gaps and improvement opportunities, documenting them and routing with a value case to SAP engagement bodies as appropriate.
• Implement and continuously improve Functional Excellence governance by applying Shell standards, QA practices, and alignment with Finance architecture standards.
• Engage with senior Finance and Business leaders to translate technology-enabled vision into tangible business outcomes and build credibility through delivery. What We're Looking For
• Senior SAP Finance SME with extensive ECC and S/4HANA Finance experience and a track record delivering large, complex ECC-to-S/4HANA transformations.
• Proven ability to lead business discussions, manage delivery scope and estimates, plan and guide functional teams, and influence wider finance stakeholders.
• Strong integration and architecture capability across on-premise, cloud, and legacy systems; up-to-date knowledge of ERP and finance technologies.
• Ability to drive simplification and unified design across multiple businesses and ERPs, with a strong commercial mindset focused on business value.
• Gravitas and excellent communication skills; ability to influence senior Finance stakeholders.
• Strong collaboration and partnership skills with Finance process owners and Design Authorities.
• Resilience, courage, and the ability to challenge and manage expectations; comfortable working independently in ambiguous environments.
