Full Stack Engineer

A Full Stack Engineer role with American Express Global Business Travel based in Bangalore, India. This is a full-time position focusing on delivering high-quality software solutions, leading technical decisions, and collaborating across product, architecture, and customer teams to design scalable travel and operations systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a team of backend and Dell Boomi Integration engineers to deliver high-quality software solutions and define technical architecture and design patterns for Amex GBT’s mid and back-office systems and Boomi integrations
• Drive technical decision-making, establish development guidelines, conduct code reviews, and ensure adherence to coding standards and quality guidelines
• Collaborate with product managers, architects, and customers on technical roadmaps and design; develop complex Dell Boomi integrations, backend services, and APIs using Java and Spring Boot
• Architect and implement scalable microservices for travel booking and operational workflows; optimize PostgreSQL database design and performance
• Deploy and manage applications on AWS ROSA (Red Hat OpenShift Service on AWS), manage EC2 instances, and implement cloud-native solutions
• Provide expert-level application support, resolve production issues, lead sprint planning and technical grooming, and foster a collaborative team environment with knowledge sharing
• Coordinate with multi-functional teams, manage technical dependencies, drive continuous improvement and technology adoption, and participate in hiring and onboarding of new team members

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Technology with at least 10 years of professional Java development experience and 3+ years in technical leadership roles; Dell Boomi Integration experience required
• Expert-level proficiency in Java 8+ (and Java 11+ as applicable), with deep expertise in Spring Boot, Spring Framework, and enterprise Java patterns
• Advanced knowledge of PostgreSQL, including performance tuning, query optimization, and database design; extensive experience with AWS services, particularly ROSA and EC2
• Proven experience designing and implementing microservices at scale; strong background in application support, production issue resolution, and incident management
• Experience leading development teams, mentoring junior developers, and strong communication and customer management skills
• Solid understanding of the software development lifecycle and Agile methodologies; experience in the travel industry, TMC operations, or expense management systems is a plus
• Knowledge of additional AWS services (EKS, RDS, Lambda, API Gateway, CloudFormation) and experience with event-driven architectures and messaging systems (Kafka, RabbitMQ)
• Familiarity with monitoring and observability tools (CloudWatch, Prometheus, Grafana, ELK) and an understanding of security frameworks and compliance (PCI DSS, GDPR)
• Experience with DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code, performance testing, and capacity planning; AWS or Red Hat OpenShift certification is a plus
