We are looking for an experienced accounting candidate to join a well-established CPA firm in the upstate. This contract-to-permanent position is fully onsite and offers the opportunity to support a diverse client portfolio with tax, bookkeeping and payroll responsibilities. The ideal candidate brings strong accounting knowledge, excellent client communication skills, and a dependable, hands-on approach to meeting recurring deadlines.
Responsibilities

Oversee day-to-day bookkeeping activities for a portfolio of approximately 15 to 25 client accounts, ensuring financial records remain accurate and up to date.

Handle accounts payable and accounts receivable functions, including tracking transactions and addressing outstanding items promptly.

Complete account and bank reconciliations, investigate variances, and resolve discrepancies with careful attention to detail.

Prepare journal entries and assist with month-end close activities to support timely and accurate financial reporting.

Contribute to monthly and quarterly reporting by organizing financial data and helping maintain reporting schedules for assigned clients.

Process payroll for multiple clients with varying pay cycles, including weekly and biweekly schedules, while verifying hourly and salary calculations.

Review payroll taxes, deductions, and multi-state employee considerations to help ensure compliant and timely payroll processing.

Communicate directly with clients to gather missing information, answer questions, and maintain strong working relationships.

Prepare tax returns during tax seasons to ensure deadlines are met. Tax returns can be both individual and business returns (partnerships, S corps, C corps)

Systems: QuickBooks Desktop & Online, Microsoft Excel - prior experience in tax software (Drake, UltraTax, Lacerte, etc.)

Demonstrated experience in full charge bookkeeping, preferably in a multi-client or public accounting environment.

Hands-on payroll experience, including processing payroll for small to mid-sized employee groups and managing tax withholdings and deductions.

Proficiency with QuickBooks Desktop, QuickBooks Online, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Word.

Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with clients, both verbally and in writing.

Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines and follow through on open items independently.

A proactive, team-oriented attitude with the flexibility to step in as needed to help meet client commitments

Schedule: Monday-Friday 40 hours per week outside of busy season (flex hours)
