Job title: Freight Procurement Specialist
About the Role The Freight Procurement Specialist will manage freight procurement activities to support Lear operations within the assigned regional scope, ensuring efficient and cost-effective transport solutions. This role involves RFQ planning, carrier performance oversight, and driving continuous improvements in the supply chain.
What You'll Do
- Prepare and execute RFQs for transportation needs within the regional scope.
- Participate in regular sourcing committees and send route awards to carriers.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and company policies.
- Negotiate favorable terms with carriers and manage rate/contract maintenance.
- Monitor and analyze carrier performance metrics; lead carrier performance reviews and onboarding of new partners.
- Collaborate with plants and central teams to optimize supply strategies and route implementation.
- Act as escalation point for operational issues at plants; identify cost-saving opportunities in daily activities.
- Maintain close communication with plants, peers, and divisional logistics management; drive continuous improvement with the Supply Chain Design team.
- Propose ideas to optimize material flow and transport efficiency.
- Lead LOP calls with Lear operations under your scope and drive route implementation.
- Maintain rates and contracts in systems and internal records following internal compliance rules.
What We're Looking For
- University degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Business Administration, or related field (Major in logistics preferred).
- Fluent in English; Spanish and other languages valued.
- Knowledge of procurement and logistics regulations.
- At least 3 years’ work experience in logistics, control tower environment, or working for a forwarder.
- Experience handling road, air, ocean, and rail shipments.
- Experience using Transport Management Systems; Microsoft Office (Excel & Outlook).
- Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills; proactive and collaborative.
- Strong negotiating, analytical, time-management, and results-driven capabilities.
