Job title: Franchise Specialist
About the Role The Franchise Specialist is part of a national team responsible for leveraging market area expertise for the profitable growth of Scotiabank's franchising portfolio in their region and for developing new customer acquisitions. The role focuses on acquiring new franchising customer relationships through engaging local franchisees, COIs, Scotiabank partners and associations, with goals set by the National Director including business acquisition, asset, deposit and revenue growth, and other customer service objectives. The ideal candidate will have Business Banking and Commercial Banking experience with proven sales results, a passion for networking, and strong relationship-building skills. A significant business development component is involved and a vehicle is required.
What You'll Do
- Acquire new franchising business owner relationships and expand existing ones to achieve sales and other goals; plan and execute relationship-building activities; identify prospects through referrals, COIs, partnerships, and community networks; participate in marketing/educational seminars; onboard new franchising customers with Virtual Franchise Banking Advisor(s).
- Discover business and personal banking needs on both sides of the customer's balance sheet; collaborate with Wealth Management Financial Consultant to provide a Total Solutions approach (business and personal lending, payments and investments).
- Assist and advise Scotiabank partners in marketing tactics and structuring/closing high-value franchising deals where possible; respond to requests for banking solutions by collecting information, processing requests, and conducting due diligence as applicable; negotiate compensation for financial products and services per policy; inform customers of setup timelines and provide setup instructions; ensure setup occurs as planned.
- Develop and maintain knowledge of local franchising customers, COIs and associations; provide specialized franchising expertise and advice; maintain relationships with influential COIs and referral sources.
- Acquire a market-area credit portfolio at an acceptable level of risk by working with Credit Adjudication and EO Franchising; prepare and ensure all documentation is properly completed.
- Contribute to the market area's financial and non-financial objectives; adhere to security procedures and regulatory/compliance requirements (privacy, AML/ATF, KYCA/KYC, CDIC, occupational health & safety); understand risk appetite and maintain day-to-day controls for operational risk and regulatory/compliance risk.

What We're Looking For
- Post-secondary education: University/college courses in accounting, finance, business law, and economics, or equivalent work experience.
- Experience in franchising (educational or working).
- Knowledge of the features and benefits of business products and services, selling approaches, and selling tools.
- Demonstrated ability to network and develop relationships that drive business growth; proven sales results in Business Banking and Commercial Banking.
- Strong communication, negotiation, and collaboration skills; willingness to travel as required by the role.
