About this role
About the job
Robots are leaving pilots and going into production: factories, warehouses, hospitals, hotels, data centres. Insurance hasn't caught up. There's little loss data, and nobody agrees where liability sits between the manufacturer, the integrator and the site operator, so most deployments run underinsured or uninsured.
We're building the insurance layer for robot deployments. We start as a US commercial property-casualty brokerage that assesses deployment risk properly and places cover. Over time we'll become an MGA that underwrites with data no carrier has today.
You'd be one of the first people on the team, so you'd shape the product and the company, and you'd be taking real early-stage risk.
The role
Type: paid contract or fractional now, full-time founding role on funding. Comp: $80–160K base on funding + 0.5–1% equity. Location: US.
You'll write the underwriting playbook for a class of risk that doesn't have one yet. We're a brokerage today and plan to become an MGA. You'll design what that MGA underwrites, how it prices, and what capacity partners need to see before they back it.
What you'll do
- Define underwriting guidelines for robot deployments: appetite, required evidence, exclusions, limits.
- Build the first rating approach, combining our site risk scores, manufacturer data and simulated loss scenarios.
- Review every account we take to market, and tell us what a carrier will and won't write, and why.
- Lead conversations with carriers, reinsurers and wholesalers on capacity for the MGA program.
- Shape coverage design across equipment / machinery breakdown, products liability, tech errors and omissions, and business interruption.
You probably have
- 6+ years underwriting commercial property-casualty in equipment breakdown, inland marine / contractors equipment, products liability, tech errors and omissions, or MGA programs.
- Pricing authority, and risks you've written in an emerging or thin-data class.
- Relationships with carriers or reinsurers that would take your call.
Nice to have
- CPCU or similar, program or MGA launch experience, or an engineering background.
After any interview we'll share specific feedback, whatever the outcome.
